Filming schedule.

Was originally meant to be filming on the 5th and 6th of February, but my original actors have pulled out (not replying). After a regrouping with myself, I have enrolled a new set of actors and am filming on the 15th of February at 3pm. I have created shot lists and script updates.

Creating the review

So initially, I wanted to replicate a film reviewing magazine such as Empire/Total Film. However, I couldn't seem to make a page layout that looked anything remotely or anything like those of the magazines. Instead I started with a plain black background, then made a green and blue, neon like gradient.

For the top left of the photo I took a photo of the main actor Daniel in a urban setting with a circular lensed camera. I then applied said photo (below) to the top left of the background.

For the 'Meter of Interest', I created a small photo with a criss cross/graph paper look to then draw upon a line graph.

After the review looking a bit plain once I had installed the text, I decided to put a picture of my friend as the reviewer. I received his total consent for his picture and he was more than happy to help. 

With all the aspects put together, the review was finished. 

Final Review!

After feedback I was told to do something with the space to the right of the first page, so I incorporated a fun and quirky interest meter! Tell me what you think.

Film Review

Could not attempt a review without it looking like a bad copy, so I ignored the layouts of Empire and Total Film and attempted my own.

Ideas for Magazine Review

Now I have finished my poster, I am looking to finish my film review. I have looked at many laoyouts in magazines such as Empire and BFI. These layouts are usually rather flashy and have great colours and seperate boxes that are exceptionally hard to recreate, due to the many layers of varying boxes and titling. I hope to create a good page layout that would be used in a review magazine and hopefully not look like a bad copy of one.

Posters

I've experimented with Adobe InDesign, creating three variations of my initial poster.
The first was drawnand set to scale to that of an A4 page, however on exportation, there is a thick white space border. Now I don't often see film posters with white borders around them, unless they are framed for decoration, so I don't think I'll be using it.

The second design resolves the problem by expanding the backgrouind image, stretching it to a full A4 page poster. The image is then bigger, yet the the text remains, giving the impression that it has moved closer into the image.

The third variation pushes these texts further towards the edges of the images, essentially creating a larger and more fitting version of the first poster.

In conclusion, I believe I will use the third image for the poster, as it is, in my opinion, the better of the three, as it is a good size and can be scaled down well to fit media cases such as DVDs, soundtrack CDs and other smaller, promotional media.



Photoshop Workshop

Today I participated in a photoshop workshop in media. This consisted of creating a satirical image of Rupert Murdoch warped into him holding an image of the world, showing his control through Newscorp.

I hope to use the skills gained here to make a authentic film poster.
